What is Primal Therapy?
(And What it is NOT!)

Primal Therapy and the Treatment
of Adult Issues

From the primal perspective unresolved early trauma (which may or may not be birth related) can and does manifest in various adult disorders including anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, chronic and major depression, addictions, eating disorders, intimacy and relationship issues
. There are, of course, childhood issues that either exacerbate the original trauma or are major traumas in there own right. These include poor attachment, neglect, sexual, emotional and physical abuse, childhood medical procedures, acute or chronic childhood illnesses, peer abuse in school and other issues.

Each of these events, when needed, are, of course, equally addressed through the primal therapeutic process. In addition, client's existential issues in the "present" are also effectively processed and dealt with through the primal process. These issues include relationships, intimacy and boundary issues, grief and loss, and personal growth issues whereby the client feels "stuck" or lacks "enjoyment" in life.  So, while primal does address and treat birth trauma when needed, it a fully comprehensive therapy dealing with the full range of childhood and adult issues. The beauty of the Primal Process is that it has the knowledge and expertise to take clients to any level of healing that is necessary. Properly practiced, it is a powerful, yet gentle, healing process indeed!  To conclude:  Primal Therapy is not about "screaming", nor is it "rebirthing".
