best therapy for his clients.  Today, as a psychotherapist in private practice, he works extensively with clients in areas of trauma, grief and loss, anxiety and depression, relationship and intimacy issues.

As a Primal Therapist, Gary adheres to the philosophy that he received while training under the Roth's--that the essence of good therapy is through healing the mind/body split by re-experiencing the pain and trauma that have originally caused the person to disconnect from their true inner beings.
Furthermore, a key point which was stressed throughout his training, is that simply re-experiencing pain and trauma is not enough.  Integration on a cognitive level of deeply accessed emotions, physical sensations, and early trauma is paramount in this treatment approach.

Formal Education

As far as formal education, Gary graduated with honors (Summa Cum Laude) from Metropolitan State College of Denver, while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Mental Health counseling.  His undergraduate program was extraordinarily comprehensive with over 90 credit hours in courses involving counseling and psychotherapy, psychology, and the behavioral sciences.  Included in the curriculum were courses in:  post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), group process and facilitation, individual and couples counseling, personality theory, psychopathology, substance abuse, domestic violence, gender issues, and Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual counseling.  In addition, for his undergraduate degree, he completed over 1000 hours of supervised clinical experience in field placements working with various client populations including those with addictions, trauma and other mental health issues, and sexual minorities.

To further his studies in counseling and psychotherapy, Gary went on to earn his Master's degree in Community Counseling through the University of Northern Colorado.
Once again, the curriculum was extensive and featured in-depth study and research in a range of areas including group counseling, individual psychotherapy, psychopathology, personality and counseling theory, addictions, multicultural issues, family systems, sexual orientation and sexuality counseling.  Additionally, he acquired over 700 hours of supervised clinical experience in dual diagnosis (addictions and mental health issues) during the completion of his internship requirements.

Private Practice

Currently, Gary works with adults in private practice with particular expertise in treating adult and childhood trauma.  His emphasis is on providing the most effective treatment possible by integrating the latest in neurobiological (brain) research into his approach in order to give clients optimum care.  His office is in Arvada, Colorado in suburban Denver, conveniently located off US 36 (Boulder Turnpike) midway between Denver and Boulder. In addition to daytime, convenient evening and weekend appointments are also available.
