On the Importance of Training and Technique Application
Primal Therapy can be highly effective when done with a trained therapist competent in Primal techniques and theory. As a cautionary note, it can also be dangerous or damaging if done by someone poorly trained (or not trained) as deep wounds from childhood are bound to resurface.
Primal techniques, when employed by an experienced therapist, are precisely targeted and situation-specific. These techniques are potent and powerfully effective. Yet, paradoxically, their skilled application requires an extraordinary degree of gentleness and sensitivity. In reality, Primal Therapy is very client-centered with the emphasis on letting the individual's unique "truths" come forth from their own "insides". As a Primal therapist, one acts as a "facilitator" of the clients' inner subjective experience.
Properly practiced, Primal Therapy is successful with many of the life's toughest challenges. It is particularly effective in accessing and healing childhood trauma and deep early wounds which have such a profound impact on later adult life. While hard work, the rewards of consciously connecting to one's feelings, emotions, and body sensations can literally be life-transforming!
